Java Cryptography Extension is a package that provides a framework and implementations for encryption, key generation and key agreement, and Message Authentication Code (MAC) algorithms.
Support for encryption includes symmetric, asymmetric, block, and stream ciphers. The software also supports secure streams and sealed objects.
Java Cryptography Extension is designed so that other qualified cryptography libraries can be plugged in as service providers, and new algorithms can be added seamlessly. (Qualified providers include those approved for export and those certified for domestic use only. Qualified providers are signed by a trusted entity.)
Java Cryptography Extension supplements the Java 2 platform, which already includes interfaces and implementations of digital signatures and message digests.
Java Cryptography Extension supports the following algorithms: DES, DESede, Blowfish, PBEWithMD5AndDES, PBEWithMD5AndTripleDES, Diffie-Hellman key agreement among multiple parties, HmacMD5, and HmacSHA1. |
